North Myrtle Beach City Council met Monday night to talk about possibly banning tents and umbrellas on the beach.
The proposed rules on tents and umbrellas would regulate the size, times, and places they could be used.
Council members heard from people for and against the ban.
Mayor Marilyn Hatley says the council is considering all concerns.
Hatley says, "Somewhere along the line, we're going to have to come to a decision on exactly what we're going to do, and I think it shows that we're working together to try to come to the right decision."
Under the proposal, people who violate the rules will have their tents or umbrellas confiscated, then have 30 days to claim them and pay a $20 recovery fee.
Council will talk about the proposal again at a workshop on November 8th.
