(AP) -- A judge says Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Alvin Greene can remain free on a misdemeanor obscenity charge.
Circuit Court Judge James Barber made his decision on Greene during a hearing Thursday in Columbia.
Greene was indicted in August on misdemeanor and felony charges of showing pornography to a teenage South Carolina college student.
A $5,000 bond was set on the felony charge. Barber ruled that the same bond would apply in the misdemeanor case.
Greene won a surprising victory in the June primary to face Sen. Jim DeMint.
A day later, The Associated Press was first to report his November arrest. Authorities said Greene approached a student in a University of South Carolina computer lab, showed her obscene photos and talked about going to her room.
