Absentee voting started Monday in many places, but you can't cast your ballot in Florence County just yet.
Election officials say they're waiting for the State Election Commission to set their voting machines. In addition to county and statewide elections, there are four municipal elections and a school board race in Florence County.
The voting machines have to be programmed with specific information for the more than 130 ballot styles that dictate the different races at the county's 64 precincts, according to David Alford with the county's voter registration office. "The complexity of some of the house districts as well as school board districts cause Florence County's database to be much more complex than the surrounding counties."
There is no specific date for absentee voting, but election officials say they like to start 30 days before the election.
Florence County will send out an announcement when absentee ballots are ready.
