A water advisory for the Great Pee Dee River has been lifted after problems caused by last week's heavy rains.

A dike breached along the river in Marlboro County spilling untreated wastewater into the river.

DHEC advised people and animals to stay out of the river from Tom Blue's Landing to the Highway 34 crossing at the Darlington County line.

Lab results show the area meets recreational water quality standards..

The dike breach has been stabilized and no untreated wastewater gone into the river since late Thursday afternoon.
