ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) - A cashier at an Anderson Hospital has refused to get a flu shot and is suing the hospital over its policy requiring vaccination.

WYFF-TV in Greenville reported that Bertha Hunter said she thinks she has the right to skip the shot. AnMed Health implemented the policy requiring employees to get

the shots or be fired to reduce the risk of spreading the flu virus.

Hunter's lawyer, Charles Griffin, sued the hospital Friday, saying the policy violates Hunter's privacy. A hospital spokeswoman says the policy is one of several

designed to reduce the spread of infection.

Some hospital workers can skip the shots if they have severe egg allergies or have had a bad reaction to previous flu vaccines.

Those workers must wear a mask at work.

Hunter says she didn't get that option.
