Coastal Animal Rescue opened a new veterinary clinic which offers reasonable rates for pet care.
The services offered at the all-volunteer clinic include include weekly vaccination clinics, dental cleanings, blood work as well as spaying and neutering. The project has been in the works for about six months and the veterinarian in charge of the clinic says the idea behind the operation is simple. The clinic is located at 1288 Limestone Drive in Murrells Inlet.
"We'd like to be a full service clinic, yet have reasonable costs," Dr. Meisen Mok said.
Since the rescue opened in 2007, the founder says they've seen more than 400 cats. He hopes knocking down the price of pet care will help break the cycle of having so many unwanted animals in the community.
"Hopefully with the spay and neuter program... we'll be able to cut down these numbers even more," David Parks said.
All of the money generated from the clinic will be used to help more animals.
"We offer a lot of bang for the buck as far as services offered at a low cost. Any money that is made will go back into animal welfare," David Parks said.
