COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina gubernatorial candidate Nikki Haley is attacking Democratic opponent Vincent Sheheen for supporting a so-called legislative slush fund that she tried to tap into as well.
Haley's latest critical ad doesn't mention the fact that she requested more than a million dollars from the grant program for projects of her own, and that the program no longer exists.
The fund was designed to help pay for local infrastructure projects.
Sheheen's campaign called it another example of Haley's hypocrisy. Her campaign says it's their June 2008 votes that count.
Haley voted to uphold Gov. Mark Sanford's veto of the program, while Sheheen voted with the majority of legislators to override it.
Facing a budget hole, legislators voted that fall to eliminate the program and transfer the leftover money.
