(AP) -- The Richland County Sheriff's Department is holding its annual amnesty day.
Sheriff Leon Lott said anyone facing a family court warrant in the county can turn themselves in Wednesday and go immediately before a judge instead of ending up in jail.
Lott says deputies have mailed out about 1,400 letters to fugitives on family court bench warrants.
The sheriff says more than 100 people normally turn take advantage of the department's annual amnesty offer.
