(AP) -- Marlboro County sheriff's deputies say they've arrested a Bennettsville man in the 2008 shooting death of another man.
The Morning News of Florence reported that sheriff's Lt. Jamie Seales said Tuesday that 25-year-old David Damont Ward is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
Deputies say Eric Thompson was reported missing Dec. 6, 2008, after his car was found in Bennettsville.
Seales says deputies got information about Thompson's death during a federal investigation of gang activity in Marlboro County last year.
Ward is being held at the Dillon County jail on federal charges.
It was unclear if he has an attorney for the murder case.
