Conway police say a Myrtle Beach police officer was arrested early Tuesday morning following a traffic accident.

Conway police say just before 4:00 a.m., they were called to Long Avenue in front of Trinity United Methodist Church in Conway for a car fire. When they arrived, officers saw a car, which had hit the front porch of the church.
They say Preston was found a short distance away from the collision scene and identified himself as a Myrtle Beach police officer.
Conway firefighters put out the car fire. Preston was taken the hospital and treated for minor injuries.
Judge Jane Mackey set a $997 personal recognizance bond for Preston Tuesday morning.
Preston has been suspended from the Myrtle Beach Police Department without pay, pending the outcome of the investigation.
