(AP) -- GEORGETOWN, S.C. (AP) - You may soon be able to sip a glass of wine while dining outside in the popular waterfront district in Georgetown.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports city council has given initial approval to an ordinance allowing people to have beer and wine while dining at sidewalk tables.
The only concerns raised during a Thursday council meeting were how to make sure people stroll the streets with drinks in hand. That is banned by city ordinance.
City administrator Chris Eldridge says state law allows only wine and beer, not distilled spirits, at sidewalk tables. Final approval of the ordinance is expected next month.
