A man accused of cutting a Florence teenager will remain in custody in North Carolina for now.

Chase Lewis McClary, 22, was arrested two weeks ago in Charlotte for the August 20th assault. Deputies say McClary attacked a 16-year-old while calling the African-American teenager racial slurs. They say McClary hit him in the head with a coffee cup and then cut him with the broken pieces.

McClary had an extradition hearing in Charlotte Thursday morning. The Florence County Sheriff's Office has submitted a Governor's Warrant to have North Carolina turn McClary over because he's fighting extradition.

When the governor of North Carolina signs the warrant, McClary is expected to be brought back to Florence County.
