Damien Chevern Grate, 19, is accused of shooting a man Monday night during an argument on Petigru Drive in Pawleys Island.
Deputies with the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office charged Grate with attempted murder Wednesday.
Deputies arrived at a home on Petigru Drive Monday around 7:30 p.m., and they found a man who had been shot in the leg.
Deputies say the investigation revealed that Grate and the victim were arguing over a cell phone when Grate pulled out a gun and shot the man before taking off in a car.
When deputies arrived at Grate's home to arrest him Wednesday, Grate ran into the woods. Deputies spoke to his mother who called him on his cell phone and talked him in to returning to the home where he was arrested.
