According to the Director of Coastal Carolina University's Center for Tourism, when it comes to average occupancy for the industry, this summer was one of the best in the past eight years.
Compared to 2009, numbers were up between 7.2% and 8% for the entire summer.
Dr. Taylor Damonte, director of Coastal Carolina University's Center for Tourism, "We have seen an impressive rate of growth this summer and overall for total hospitality revenues both for the city of Myrtle (Beach) and countywide set new records in July."
Damonte adds the Myrtle Beach area generated more hospitality revenue than it ever had during June and July.
The same trend is expected for the month of August, which we should see as soon as those tax records are released.
