Conway police have charged a 15-year-old Conway juvenile with Disturbing Schools and Conveying a Bomb Threat in connection with posts made to local television stations' Facebook fan pages. NewsChannel 15's Facebook page was not one of them.
The juvenile, accompanied by his parents and attorney, surrendered to authorities and was charged Tuesday. He was then released to his parents.
Last Friday, Conway police received calls from two local television stations stating that someone had posted a threat to blow up Conway High School on each station's Facebook fan page.
Conway investigators say they worked with Facebook and Horry Telephone investigators to identify the source of the threat.
Security sweeps were done at the school Sunday evening and there was an increased police presence Monday morning when students returned.
Police believed the threat was a copycat of a threat posted to Facebook by a student at St. James High School last week.
