An obscure South Carolina law is going to prevent Myrtle Beach from hosting a classic car auction at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center this weekend.

The law prohibits car dealers from auctioning cars to the general public.

A Greenville car dealer hoped to hold a classic car auction this weekend, but canceled it when the Department Motor Vehicles told him it wasn't allowed.

The dealer moved the auction to Wilmington, North Carolina.

The dealer plans to meet with the DMV in an effort to change the law.
