Darlington police say Willie Pooler will spend time in jail for stealing a pair of air conditioning units at a building about to be turned into a veterans center.

Pooler stole copper from the units and is responsible for four other larcenies in the city. He pleaded guilty last week to six counts of petit larceny and was sentenced to 6 months in jail.

The two air conditioning units were stolen from a building on Law Street last month that is in the process of being turned into a veterans center.

The thefts have delayed the opening of the center for another 5 months.
