Highway Patrol says a man walking to the store was hit by a car early Thursday morning.
They say it happened just after at 3:50 a.m. at North Fifth Street and Old Ruby Road, just outside the city limits of Hartsville.
Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee says the victim is Richard L. Byrd, 27, of Hartsville.
The incident is under investigation by the highway patrol MAIT team and the Darlington County Coroner's Office.
