A circuit court judge ruled in June that Dillon County councilmen have to direct questions about employees to the county administrator. The administrator is the direct supervisor of county employees according to the South Carolina Code of Laws.

Last week, Judge Paul Burch ordered Councilman Macio Williamson to appear in the Dillon County Court of Common Pleas to decide whether Williamson should be held in contempt of court for violating that order.

Councilman Williamson is accused of telling the Dillon Chief Magistrate Judge to hire a black person to fill a vacant position in his office or he would cut that position from the Magistrate's budget. The accuser says that happened on August 5th.

A violation of the South Carolina Code Of Laws could lead to a fine or jail time.

Chairman Williamson is set to appear before Judge Burch on September 21st at 10 a.m. at the Dillon County Courthouse.
