The Inlet Square Mall in Murrells Inlet held its official grand re-opening Saturday afternoon, after a few years of hardships.
About 50 people gathered as mall officials and local politicians cut the ribbon at the re-opening.
Over the past couple of years, the mall has been in and out of bankruptcy, it has undergone new ownership and lost a movie theatre - one of its bigger draws. But they say they're on the right track now.
Soon, a new theatre will open and they expect more stores to also open.
"For them to come back in and invest this kind of dollars is exciting," said Allen Deaton, the Mayor of nearby Surfside Beach.
He continued, "It's going to do multiple things. It's going to give access to retail. It's also going to give a return on that investment. That money is going to circulate through the system, and it's a great day for this whole south end."
