Georgetown County deputies say a man robbed the McDonalds on Ocean Highway near Pawleys Island just after 1 a.m. Thursday.
A worker told deputies a man carrying a pipe came in through the drive-through window. He described the suspect as a light-skinned black man, about five feet nine inches tall, wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt with gold emblems on the sleeves and a rag over the bottom of his face.
The worker says he told other employees to hide and tried to call 911.
The store manager says the man came up from behind her and grabbed her over her face and stole her cell phone. She said the robber took money from the safe and went out the same drive-through window he came in.
Deputies searched around the store, but didn't find anyone.
They tracked the suspect to Richardson Lane. On the way, they found the manager's cell phone and numerous footprints.
Investigators have taken out a warrant, but no suspect details have been released.
