BATESBURG-LEESVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- A Georgia couple has died after their vehicle ran off an interstate highway in South Carolina.

Lexington County Coroner Harry Harman said the wreck happened on I-20 near Batesburg-Leesville shortly before 3 p.m. Sunday.

Harman says 79-year-old Julian Tanenbaum and 77-year-old Beverly L. Tanenbaum of Augusta, Ga., died at the scene.

The coroner says the Julian Tanenbaum lost control of a sports utility vehicle and it ran off the right side of the highway and hit a tree, trapping the couple inside.

Harman and the South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
