South Carolina's new state farmers market near Columbia is opening following several months of delays.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina's new state farmers market near Columbia is opening following several months of delays.
The first phase of the market located on U.S. 321 opens Monday.
The Agriculture Department says the first phase includes farmers' sheds, an administration building and the department's lab and consumer services facility.
This fall, the second phase opens including an RV park, amphitheater and a building housing an exhibition kitchen, bakery and retail produce space.
Later this fall, a conference center opens to coincide with the first Fall Plant and Flower Festival.
The market was supposed to open last the spring but suffered construction and financing delays.
