An end unit of a four-plex on Volterra Way in Belle Terre burned Friday afternoon.

Horry County Fire Rescue says lightning caused the fire at the vacant townhouse.

The fire started just before 5 pm.

Even after the fire was out, smoke poured out of the home and filled the sky.

There were more than a dozen emergency vehicles on scene and at least 20 firefighters.

First responders included units from Horry County Fire Rescue, Myrtle Beach Fire, and Conway Fire.
