The North Eastern Strategic Alliance says progress is moving along on the proposed I-73 project.
NESA held a meeting Friday at Francis Marion University in Florence.
This year, the Federal Highway Commission gave the state ten-million dollars for the I-73 project. "That will be used specifically for the Interchange of Hope, which is the interchange of I-73 and I-95 in Dillon County and it's a critical part of the road because it shows the connectivity of the road," Rep. Doug Jennings(D), Marlboro-Chesterfield Cos, said.
I-73 would run from Michigan to Myrtle Beach. Represenative Jennings says its construction is expected to create 7,500 jobs.
In two weeks, the Department of Transportation will name of portion of Highway 38 in Marlboro County in honor of Representative Jennings for his efforts in transportation and road improvements in our state.
