Police say the former Florence County Clerk of Court, who is also the father of the former Florence County Sheriff, foiled a burglary at his neighbors house.

Police charged Dominic Boone, 19, and a 15-year-old boy with two counts of burglary and grand larceny.

According to deputies, James "C" Boots Gregg saw the teenagers at his neighbors house in the Claussen community in Florence County.

Officers say he got his pistol and drove over to see what was going on and when their stories didn't add up, he told them the police were on the way.

Police say Gregg stopped them before they could take anything. In the last few weeks, police have made several arrests for burglaries in the Claussen area.
