The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources says it's been a good season for loggerhead turtles.
A mid-season survey shows 2,798 loggerhead, three leatherback and three green sea turtle nests have been reported on South Carolina beaches this summer.
So far in 2010, 21,435 loggerhead hatchlings have emerged.
But the young reptiles are still in danger of being confused by artificial lights on the coast, so the DNR is pushing its "Keep Lights Out for Loggerheads" program.
