(AP) -- The Labor Department says July's unemployment rate remain unchanged at 9.5%.
Private employers added new workers for the third straight month in July, but the pace remained weak. Companies added a net total of 71,000 jobs.
In June, South Carolina's unemployment rate stood at 10.7%, one of the nation's highest. Marion County had the highest unemployment rate in the state last month at 19.3%. Marlboro County came in at 18.2%. Dillon County's unemployment stood at 15%. Darlington County's was 12.8%. Florence County came in at 11.1%.
On the Grand Strand in June, Georgetown County's unemployment rate was 11.3% and Horry County's was 10.3%.
