COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Not everyone will be clearing out of the South Carolina Farmers Market in Columbia next month.

Vendors at the market across from the University of South Carolina's Williams-Brice Stadium had been told to move to the new market in Lexington County by Aug. 16.

But the State newspaper reported Wednesday some vendors can stay until Oct. 29, if they pay more and close on Saturdays when the Gamecocks are playing home games.

Some mid-sized wholesalers have not yet built or leased facilities at the new market. The market's private developer also has not yet built new facilities for small vendors.

The Agriculture Department was making arrangements for small vendors to operate out of farmers' sheds. USC plans to use the old market for parking and other activities.
