Andy Christenson, the former public safety director of Surfside Beach, has filed a lawsuit against the town.

Town Council eliminated Christenson's job in June, citing budgetary issues.

They also said there was no longer a need for a director of public safety since the department was being split into police and fire.

Christenson said he was forced out and is suing for wrongful termination.
