ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) -- The South Carolina Court of Appeals has upheld the drug conviction of the former York County coroner.
The Herald of Rock Hill reported Friday the court upheld the 2008 conviction of Doug McKown on a charge of illegal possession of a prescription drug.
McKown was charged after police say he watched his then girlfriend sell drugs at a York store. A search of his home found two ecstasy pills, a gram of marijuana, half a pill of Viagra and cocaine residue in five places.
A York County jury found him guilty only of the misdemeanor of possessing the Viagra. He was placed on probation for a year.
McKown was suspended when he was indicted on the drug charges.
He returned to office after he was cleared on the cocaine charge, but resigned a month later after being charged with an alcohol violation in North Carolina.
