(AP) --

About 1,100 South Carolina Army National Guard soldiers are returning home after participating in a two-week anti-terror training exercise in Indiana.

Spokesman Capt. Tim Irvin of the Charleston-based 218th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade said Thursday the exercise involved soldiers responding to a simulated nuclear attack by terrorists in an urban area.

Irvin said the exercise included simulated search and rescue missions, decontamination actions and medical relief operations.

Irvin said nearly 200 vehicles driven to the exercise were returning from Indiana, and people may see the convoy along highways as they travel from Camp Atterbury near Indianapolis to South Carolina.
