A DUI charge was dropped against Surfside Beach Mayor Allen Deaton Thursday.
Deaton was arrested in January for driving under the influence and speeding.
Solicitor Greg Hembree says Deaton pleaded guilty to speeding.
Hembree says the officer who performed the DUI test on Deaton has moved to another job and couldn't testify.
He says Deaton was given no special consideration.
Deaton says the charge was dropped because of a lack of evidence.
He forfeited his $133 bond and had the DUI charge expunged from his record.
