A Myrtle Beach landmark, serving locals for more than 50 years, will be shutting its doors this week.
The Northside Pharmacy on Kings Highway and 61st Avenue is Myrtle Beach's oldest pharmacy. But the store, which has family run and operated since 1960, will close on Wednesday.
The owners and many of the employees say they're going to join the CVS store on 67th Avenue and Kings Highway.
Employees and long-time customers are taking the news pretty hard.
"I was shocked actually that they needed to be closing and I realized a lot of people would have stuff that they wouldn't be able to find anymore because they specialize in so many things here that you can't find elsewhere," said Waynette Porter, a longtime customers.
"We've been blessed here with some mighty good customers," said Jon Howell, one of the owners and operators of Northside Pharmacy. "We'll be working with CVS down on 67th and hopefully a lot of our customers will follow us down there. But, there's going to be a lot of things going to be hard to get and it'll leave a little hole there. Somebody will come in and pick up the slack," continued Howell.
Northside Pharmacy will close at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
