North Myrtle Beach first responders were among the first to see the horrific airplane crash scene at the Creekside Mobile Home Park Wednesday night.
Neighbors and witnesses in the neighborhood tell NewsChannel 15 that first responders were on the scene within minutes of the accident.
Firefighters say they walked into a scene that has been hard to forget.
"This is another emergency obviously for North Myrtle Beach," said NMB Fire Chief, Tom Barstow. "We're pretty much used to emergencies on a day to day basis, but a tragedy like this strikes some of our personnel hard, especially when a child is involved. You know, a lot of the guys that were out there realized there was a child involved, and a lot of them have children, and so that gets to them a little bit."
Chief Barstow says first responders have access to services that allow them to cope with having worked a potentially traumatic accident scene.
