MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities say the shooting death of a South Carolina couple was an apparent murder-suicide.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reports the shooting occurred early Wednesday in Mount Pleasant, a bedroom community across the Cooper River from Charleston.
Police Capt. Stan Gregg says it appears 59-year-old Bruce Skinner shot his 62-year-old wife Marilyn and then turned the gun on himself.
Skinner was a doctor who worked for a local law firm as an in-house medical expert. His wife was a hospice nurse.
Next door neighbor Cynthia McDonough says she almost fainted when she heard the news and says there seemed to be nothing amiss at the Skinner home.
