(AP) -- GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - A regional organization that accredits colleges has warned a South Carolina school about concerns over its governing board.
The Greenville News reported officials at Erskine College in Due West say they think the situation has been resolved. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools issued a warning July 1, saying Erskine failed to show it complied with rules that a school's governing body be free from excessive influence by political, religious or other groups.
The association sent a committee to Erskine in May to investigate the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church's decision to remove 14 Erskine board members.
The denomination resolved that dispute last month. Erskine spokesman Rick Hendricks says the accrediting association didn't know that when it prepared the warning letter.
