CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- A cruise liner based on the South Carolina coast is picking up passengers for an Independence Day weekend cruise.

Passengers on the Carnival Fantasy disembark in Charleston on Friday before others board for a cruise leaving later in the day.

The five-day cruise visits the Bahamas before the ship returns to South Carolina on Wednesday.

Carnival Cruise Lines permanently based the Fantasy in Charleston earlier this year.
