(AP) -- A Navy officer formerly commanding the Naval Weapons Station in Charleston has been placed in a pre-trial intervention program for his arrest on a prostitution charge in South Carolina.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reported Capt. Glen M. Little was arrested by North Charleston police in January.

North Charleston prosecutor Tim Amey said Wednesday the pre-trial program is offered to those with no previous criminal record.

Police say the 55-year-old man was caught in an undercover prostitution sting involving a police decoy.

Offenders in pre-trial programs take part in alternatives such as taking a class or undergoing counseling.

Little was relieved of command and reassigned to administrative duties in Jacksonville, Fla.
