Police are on the lookout for a black bear that's been sighted three times in a Chesterfield County neighborhood.

Officers say the bear is roaming in a community off of State Road in Cheraw looking through trash cans, but hasn't bothered any residents.

Last Friday, workers at Vulcraft Industries spotted a black bear cub on West Sumter Street in Florence.

Wildlife officers ended a five hour search for the animal, after it retreated to the woods.

The bear resurfaced later that evening near the bowling alley on North Cashua Drive in Florence, where wildlife officers tranquilized it.

They took to the bear to a management area with thousands of acres of land where its free to roam.
