(AP) -- South Carolina transportation officials are set to reopen two closed bridges on Interstate 77.

The Department of Transportation says I-77 traffic should be able to return to the Chester County bridges over Exit 62 on Wednesday.

The bridges were closed about three weeks ago as crew repaired cracks in the steel girders. Traffic was detoured down the exit ramp, then back up to the highway.

Officials say the reopening of the bridges could be delayed if there is bad weather over the next several days.

Transportation Secretary Buck Limehouse praised DOT workers and United Contractors for getting the repairs done much faster than the initial estimate of several months.
