COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- House Republicans will decide the fate of a bill requiring South Carolina voters to show a photo ID and also allowing them to cast a ballot early.

The bill could die Tuesday unless the House agrees to accept the Senate version. House GOP leaders say showing a photo is an issue of voter integrity, but they don't like pre-Election Day voting.

A compromise between House and Senate Republicans allowed eight days of no-excuse early voting, but in only one location per county. It also limited other absentee voting.

Democratic senators blocked its passage, wanting more time to vote in more locations.

Hartsville Sen. Gerald Malloy says if House leaders want to require voters to show a photo ID, they'll have to go along with -the Senate version.
