(AP) -- COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - An unidentified Florida couple has pledged to give $30 million to the University of South Carolina.
The State newspaper reports that president Harris Pastides told the schools board of trustees about the pledge on Friday.
The gift would be one of the largest in the history of the university.
In 1998, Houston Texans owner and former South Carolina student body president Bob McNair pledged $20 million to the school.
That same year, Wall Street financier and school trustee Darla Moore pledged $25 million to improve South Carolina's business school. She has since given about $70 million in gifts to the university.
