In Myrtle Beach Saturday, dozens of people gathered to protest off-shore drilling.
People came together at Plyler Park to show their support a ban of oil drilling off our coasts. The folks who showed up said they're tired of the culture of oil dependency.
It's a nationally organized event called Hands Across the Sand and there were similar gatherings across much of coastal South Carolina Saturday morning.
"This is not really a protest. This is a gathering of people saying we are sick of it. We are sick of paying out to big oil. We are sick of the chances of something like what happening in Louisiana happening here," said Connie Marcantel, who was at the event opposing offshore drilling.
The idea came from florida where, earlier this year, more than 10,000 people gathered on beaches around that state to oppose the end of a state ban against offshore drilling.
