The Army National Guard showed up Friday night at Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach to entertain.
The group of 38 soldiers makes up the 246th Army Band out of Columbia. They put on a 90 minute musical performance with several hundred in attendance.
The band plays jazz, pop and patriotic music.
They were originally formed after World War Two and have played around the world. Their mission is to promote patriotism and awareness of the National Guard, and maybe pick up a few recruits along the way.
Jessie Morlan with the National Guard says, "We have many other jobs and many other talents that contribute to our entire force. And of course one of them being a musician. Many people are not aware of the musical aspect of the band or that an Army National Guard band exists."
The 246th Army Band will have an encore performance Saturday night at 7 p.m. at Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach.
