Florence Police and DNR have decided to end the search for a bear cub spotted Friday morning at a business on Sumter Street.
Police and officers with the Department of Natural Resources were called to Vulcraft Industries around 8:00am when employees noticed the bear on their property.
For a time, the bear was laying down in the middle of Sumter Street, and the road had to be closed. The cub eventually lumbered over to another nearby business, Superior Machines, and then moved off into the woods where police lost sight of it.
DNR was planning to shoot the bear with a tranquilizer gun and relocate it. Officers are saying that they believe the bear has found its way back into the woods, so they're no longer searching for it.
They say if anyone sees the bear to call 9-1-1. They ask that people leave the bear alone if spotted.
The video attached to this story was shot Friday morning around 8:30am when the bear was on Sumter Street.
The bear was last seen about 9:30am.
