(AP) -- Mental health officials in South Carolina are starting over on selling 165 acres in downtown Columbia.

The State newspaper reported Tuesday the Mental Health Commission has rejected an offer by a developer.

Commission attorney Mark Binkley says the panel didn't like the price or structure of the deal. Details of the offer have not been released.

Binkley says agency staff members and lawyers have been instructed to start over on the proposal. He says the agency is still talking with the developer.

Money from the sale of the land is to be used for mental health treatment programs.

Columbia officials hope a buyer will develop the tract. A plan proposed five years ago calls for a mix of homes and retail and office space.
