An agency that helps needy residents in our area, and that was recently shut down by the state of South Carolina, is set to reopen Monday.
The Waccamaw Economic Opportunity Council will be serving clients once again after the governor's office lifted the spending restrictions it had put in place last month.
Officials say the decision was made over the concern of citizens facing the dangerously high temperatures in our area in the coming weeks.
The Waccamaw EOC, among other things, provides utility assistance and home weatherization needs to folks in Horry, Georgetown and Williamsburg counties.
In addition to resuming services the EOC has called back the 42 employees who were laid-off two weeks ago.
