GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- Some experts say they still don't think the Gulf oil spill will cause a significant impact on South Carolina's coast.
The Greenville News reported Friday a researcher on the South Carolina coast doesn't expect to see any oil slicks in the state.
James Morris is director of the University of South Carolina's Baruch Institute for Marine and Coastal Sciences near Georgetown.
He says he doesn't expect the spill to result in birds covered in oil on the South Carolina coast.
University of South Florida professor Chuanmin Hu says the oil has been going in circles in the gulf, rather than moving into the loop current and the Gulf Stream, which could bring it to South Carolina.
Doug Helton with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says any oil that reaches South Carolina would be diluted.
