The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division says a North Charleston man assaulted two South Carolina State Troopers during the Atlantic Beach Bikefest this past May.
SLED says Brandon Lamar Simmons, 21, is charged with two counts of Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature.
According to SLED arrest warrants, Simmons assaulted a state trooper in North Myrtle Beach on May 29th by dragging him down the road and hitting another trooper with a 1996 Jeep.
According to a news release from SLED, agents say one of the troopers approached the vehicle after Simmons didn't follow his directions during a traffic stop.
SLED says the trooper observed a possible controlled substance in Simmons' Jeep and as the trooper attempted to put the vehicle in park, Simmons drove away from the scene as the trooper held onto the vehicle. The jeep then hit the second trooper.
We have contacted the South Carolina Department of Public Safety to find out the conditions of the troopers. We'll post the details when we get them.
